Zeynep Kivanc and teammates win first place at James Garcia Swim Invite

The LFA girls swimming team attended the James Garcia Invite at Hamilton High School in Wisconsin on Thursday, October 16th. Coach Garrett Morrison explains that the invite featured the top swimming teams from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Ultimately, the Caxys won first place with a fifty point lead over the second place team.

Most of the events ended with two LFA swimmers placing within the top six, and no individual swimmer or relay team placed outside the top ten in any event. The girls also broke a ten-year-old school record for the 400 Freestyle Relay by four seconds and set new records for the 200 Freestyle Relay. Zeynep lowered her own school record in the 100 Breaststroke by one second.

Coach Morrison notes that every swimmer, including Zeynep, contributed to the victory. He is extremely proud of the students and names seniors Jasmine Sawyer, Currie Smith, Ellie Snyder, and Allie Wolter as great leaders.
