Sophia Platcow Recognized at All-School Awards Ceremony

On May 22nd, the LFA community gathered in The Cressey Center for the Arts for the All-School Awards Ceremony. Head of School John Strudwick gave introductory remarks, congratulating the students on finishing another successful year of rigorous academic courses. After a piano performance of the LFA Alma Mater by Boom Dej-Udom '15, each academic department presented awards to individual students.

Sophia was the recipient of the Harvest Hope Award. The Harvest Hope Award is presented in honor of the student's leadership and dedication to the Harvest Hope initiative at Lake Forest Academy. Harvest Hope, which celebrates its fifth year in 2015, is a year-long service learning program at the AJ Katzenmaier Elementary School in North Chicago. The program starts in June with a school supply drive run by the LFA Harvest Hope leaders. In the fall, the LFA community gathers cans of food for a food drive until the Harvest Hope Enrichment Day in November. In appreciation of the student's hard work, the North Chicago Partners organization will donate a book in the student's name to the AJK school.

Chris Tennyson, Dean of Students, ended the assembly with another congratulations to the awardees and a final word to the seniors. "Your academic growth and achievements have been tremendous...You have embodied everything that LFA has wanted you to be and for that we thank you."
