Nick Lin and peers perform Godspell

2016 Mar 24

On February 17th to the 20th, over 70 LFA students put on performances of the musical Godspell. Based on the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, this light-hearted, spirited rock opera was first persented on Broadway in 1971. The musical revolves around the Christ Jesus preaching parables to a larger audience. Bible stories are told through song and dance.

Nick performed the role of Jesus during the Wednesday and Friday shows. Students attended countless rehearsals during the winter season and received much positive feedback for their work.

This year's productions of Godspell were the last Lake Forest Academy shows directed by Mark Dryfoos, Director of Performing Arts, who will be retiring after a 35-year career at LFA. He says, "Thank you to all the students whom I have directed over three decades. You have been the center of my life at the Academy for 35 years and your talents have helped me be a success. I have put my heart and soul into working at the Academy. Every show has been about the students finding job on stage. It has been about them and I will always have fond memories of my time here at the Academy. It has been a privilege to have directed over 150 shows at the Academy and I leave here knowing I did my very best."
