Matt Pugliese excels in 2015 National Spanish Exam Competition

2015 Jun 10

Students in advanced Spanish classes at LFA took the 2015 National Spanish Exam in early spring to qualify for awards in Spanish proficiency. The annual exam is distributed by The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and aims to measure the reading, listening, and writing skills of students learning Spanish in secondary schools.

Notably, thirty-four LFA students were recognized by the AATSP for their academic excellence in Spanish, earning four gold medals, seven silver medals, seven bronze medals, and sixteen honorable mentions. Matt was the recipient of one of the Honorable Mentions.

Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, explains that attaining a medal or honorable mention is extremely prestigious. "The exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 157,000 students participating in 2015." LFA Spanish Language Instructors Noelle Balson and Tameka Carter congratulate Matt on this wonderful achievement.
