Julia Knauz Receives Bronze Medal in National Spanish Exam Competition

2017 May 19

Students in Spanish classes at LFA took the 2017 National Spanish Exam in early spring to qualify for awards in Spanish proficiency. The annual exam is distributed by The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and aims to measure the reading, listening, and writing skills of students learning Spanish in secondary schools.

Notably, 35 LFA students were recognized by the AATSP for their academic excellence in Spanish, earning 4 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 13 bronze medals, and 10 honorable mentions. Julia was awarded the Bronze Medal.

Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, explains that attaining a medal or honorable mention is extremely prestigious. "The exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 157,000 students participating in 2017." The member of the LFA Spanish Language Faculty congratulate Julia on this wonderful achievement.
