Julia Knauz Gives Back to Local Community on Service Learning Day 2016

2016 May 16

LFA's annual Service Learning Day took place on April 28th, 2016. Students and faculty went on 22 different service trips around the North Chicago suburban area to volunteer at local organizations. The LFA community planted 1,000 trees, packed 15,380 meals at Feed My Starving Children, packaged 5,500 lbs of meat at Northern Illinois Food bank, filled 1000 bags of sand, visited and performed for senior citizens, and cut brush at various forest preserves.

Julia went to the Allstate Arena as a member of the Amnesty Club for WE Day. WE Day celebrates the ME to WE movement and the participation of students and educators involved in the Free The Children's We Scare Hunger campaign. Students who volunteered and worked to create social change were invited to the event.

Sarah Collins, Director of Service Learning, notes the importance of Julia's participation and thanks all the students who made an effort to give back to the local community.
